Sri Sri Sri Swamy Ramananda Paramahamsa

His holiness Sri Swami Ramananda Paramahamsa was born in Kalliyaserri, a small village in the Cannor district of Kerala in the year 1903. After travelling from place to place, he settled down at Dowleswaram in East Godavari District, A.P. For several years there, he did penance in a cave in the Janardhana Swami Temple. The temple is located in the Dhawalagiri hills which are infested with snakes (Pamula), so he was called as PAMULASWAMY.
After decades of vigorous Yoga Sadhana, Swamiji wanted to establish the Yoga propounded by his Guru, Sri Swami Sivananda Paramahamsa. This was the Yoga as preached by Sri Krishna in the holy Bhagavad-Gita, and it was also noted in the scriptures and shrutis.

Swamiji as a Guru

Swamiji carefully studied the Upanishads with a view to prove that his Guru’s yoga is the method taught by Sri Krishna in the Gita and that it is the Yoga for self-realization. He founded an ashram by name Sri Ramananda Yoga Jnana Ashram at Kamannavalasa in the year 1965. He founded another ashram at Bhavanipuram, Vijayawada.

His beloved disciple was Sri Antarmukhananda, our Guruji, who served his Guru for more than 14 years in the ashram and attained spiritual powers (TAPAS) from his Guru. With Swamiji’s blessings, he is now conducting the ashram as the Pitadhipathi. He has given initiation to thousands of people throughout the country. Learn more about Guruji here.

Swamiji was a good doctor and cured chronic diseases like cancer, arthritis, and psychic problems. His disciples have experienced miracles and also observed his control over the nature many times. He has showered love and affection on poor people and given them food and clothes. Swamiji strongly stressed the need for regular Yoga Sadhana to all mankind and named the Sadhana as Sada Pranayama. He wrote a number of books. The last of the series is YOGAMRUTHAM.

Swamiji attained Mahasamadhi in 1993.
